Fun description

(Serious description far below. Do NOT read it.)

I'm so bored with diagrams in books about internet networking and protocols! They're all like little boxes and arrows pointing to other boxes and stiff little computers and what is that thing that's a circle with an X in it? That's a server? What the hell? WHAT.

Can't a data packet be a weird little goblin cat or something? What if protocols like HTTP were mad wizards or immigration trolls or netherworld postal service hell elves? Internet service providers (ISP) could be like Richard Scarry's Busy Town Hall or Adventure Time's Nightosphere. Who knows! Are we human or are we server?

The internet is so awesome, why do engineers make it soooooo boooooring????? I will never forgive them!!!

Perform it!

We can draw, make music, stage a play, whatever. Internetworking is rich with narrative promise. Have fun with it!

Why

Fun way to learn about t3h w3bz under the hood?

I've tried this before in various venues, mostly Cyklopen and art studios, and it's always been fun. So I want to develop this further.

Important note

You don't need to know anything about the internet and stuff to join. I can tell you a bit about it. If we don't know something, we'll look it up. 😊

Venue

Noisy and crowded environments affect me very badly and I have not been able to find quiet and calm enough spaces in Stockholm to accommodate my needs. And I need walls to stick sheets on. So it will be mostly my place unless someone is kind enough to host.

Serious description

This project is part of my new media art practice that explores the phenomenology of chthonic infrastructures such as the internet and probability. Apart from heavy reading and participant observation, my method of choice has been the relational aesthetics of the workshop to inject rare liveliness into an otherwise solitary undertaking and to lay claim to a bit of scicomm.

Did your eyes glaze over and your brain fall asleep? Well, it's your own fault. I told you not to read this!
