Japanese Lunch at Zu Izakaya

Locally owned and operated, June Kang opened her second Zu Izakaya in March of 2024 on North Tatum Blvd (original location is in Tempe). The restaurant offers a wide variety of Sushi, Sashimi, Poke, Hot Pots, Grilled Meats, Udon, and Ramen. There is a great bento box lunch special in addition to their expansive regular menu. On a recent visit with friends we all were very pleased with our meals. The Miso soup was excellent. One person ordered the the Shrimp Tempura which she described as some of the best with a light crispy batter. I tried some of the happy hour sushi rolls that were flavorful and fresh. The other friend ordered the Scallops Dynamite - a baked delight with scallops, salmon, vegetables, cheese, teriyaki sauce and spicy aioli. A neighboring table ordered one of the Hot Pots and a Grilled Meat dish that sizzled and created wonderful wafting smells as it was carried past our table. We all agreed we would definitely be back to try other items.
