Walk the Sabino Canyon Tram Road under the November Full Moon

## Details

This may end up being a self hosted event. I have a medical procedure on Tuesday and not sure if I'll be able to stroll by Friday. But the weather is supposed to be great! So you all can do it with me if I make it, or at least enjoy it even if I'm not there.

Let's leave from the gazebo in front of the Visitors Center promptly at 6:00. The goal is to walk--stroll--up the tram road to the fourth bridge (just a bit short of the two mile marker) and back. The pace should be no more than 2 miles per hour.

The rest rooms at the Visitors Center are closed at 4pm. There are port a potties about a mile up the tram road. Just FYI.

Here are some some rules and guidelines for this so please read this entire post before deciding to attend. Walking the tram road at Sabino after dark under the full moon is a fabulous experience! I hope you all want to come! but there's stuff you need to be aware of:

  1. I am going to set a minimum of 4 for this hike to take place; if we don't have that many takers, I'll cancel the event and try for another day when maybe more of you can make it. I want to have enough people for the conversation to be loud enough to announce our presence to any animals we may encounter; they don't want to meet up close and personal with us either. Advance warning is best. More than four are welcome of course!
  2. You walk/hike at your own risk. This is true for you and any guest you bring. Your attending this event means that you assume all risks. I want to be very sure we all have a good time here, a safe time. It may be hot even after dark. Make sure your health situation will be ok for walking close to 4 miles in the heat. There are some hills here, so it can be a challenging walk. You are responsible for yourself. If you need to turn back, you may have to walk back to the parking lot on your own. MAKE SURE YOU BRING PLENTY OF WATER AND STAY HYDRATED.
  3. There may be wild animals/critters. EVERYONE NEEDS TO BRING A FLASHLIGHT (NO HEADLAMPS PLEASE, THEY BLIND OTHERS). The most effective approach IMHO is to shine your light down on the road so you can see clearly quite a distance ahead what is coming up. If there are snakes or tarantula or scorpions we wait until it is safe to walk around them or they have finished crossing the road. No screaming please.
  4. there is a charge to park at Sabino if you don't have a pass. Make sure you take care of this before 6:00. There is a box nearby where we will meet. If you have a pass, be sure you display it!
  5. A few other suggestions: I usually put on mosquito repellent; up to you whether you need to. I also have a small personal water spritzer bottle I carry to spray myself when I get hot...I find it very effective for cooling off.
  6. If a storm is happening or threatening at Sabino at the time the hike is to start, or if it is too cold, I will cancel. If some decide to go ahead, you do so at your own risk. If the bridges are covered with water I'll stop at the first bridge.
  7. I'm cross-posting this with the Explore Tucson on Foot group...Just FYI

Hope to see you there!
Mary
