Join your 51+ friends for a celebration of our third year and the upcoming holidays at the [ALX Community Waterfront Center](https://alxcommunity.com/locations/waterfront/). Dress up in your favorite cocktail attire and get in the holiday spirit at an elegant, decorated for the holidays, waterfront location on Old Town Alexandria’s waterfront promenade.

In addition to socializing and eating dinner we will have a name tag contest, dessert contest, music for dancing, and other special things.

The party will be partially catered with mains and sides provided. Members are asked to bring a dessert or Beer/Wine to share or to help out with the party setup/clean up. However, to avoid having too much/little of these items please contact one of the following coordinators with what you would like to bring. We are pleased to announce there will be an **Angel Tree** at our holiday party. The Angel Tree initiative provides a heartwarming opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children in a shelter. More information on the Angel Tree will be provided at a later date.

Unlike most other Meetup groups, our 51+ group does not charge a membership fee. We have been able to do this because of the generous donations we receive once a year from our members that cover our Meetup expenses. If you have enjoyed the events you have attended and would like to help us keep the membership free of charge, please add an additional amount to the holiday party fee. Any excess cash received will be put towards a local charity.

**How to sign up for this event:**

1\. Pay attention to the RSVP opening date and time\.
2\. If you are on the “going” list or as soon as you get moved to the going list – **Please make your payment of $35** (add some more if you would like to make a donation to the group) **within 24 hours via Paypal** to paybenham@gmail.com. Please “add a note” in Paypal with your meetup profile name. Be sure to select that the payment is for “family and friends”. Paypal is the ONLY way to pay for this event.
3\. DO NOT make payment if you are on the waitlist\.
4\. Your meetup profile will be marked as paid within 48 hours of the payment via Paypal\. Please give me a day to get through the administrative stuff before sending me a note asking if I received the payment\.
5\. Anyone who is on the “going” list and unpaid 24 hours after "going" may be moved to “not going”\.
