Join your 51+ cycling friends for one of our last evening bike rides of 2024. This almost full moon bike ride should be an excellent evening for a ride.

Our Monday night bike ride will travel from Pentagon City (free parking) to Memorial Bridge, down the mall to and around the Capitol. Our return route will take us back down mall, to Ohio drive, across the 14th street bridge, and through Columbia Island. From there we'll ride to the Air Force memorial to take in the fabulous view of the city at night. The round trip distance will be approximately 15 miles.

We will meet in the Pentagon Hayes Street parking lot on Army-Navy Drive in Pentagon City. After assembling and a very brief chat about the ride, we’ll depart promptly at with a target return time of about 7:30 PM.
Be ready to roll at the event start time.

The route is somewhat lit but you will be riding in the dark. You need to be comfortable riding in the dark on street roadways, in street bike lanes, paved trails, and crossing streets in an urban environment in low light while negotiating pedestrians, cars, scooters..... You will need to really pay attention to where you are and where you're going.

There are many turns along the route, so you'll need to be able to keep up and/or slow down to ride with the group and not get lost. Please make sure you have the ability to complete a bike ride of this distance, your bike is ready, and you know how to use your gears. After the ride, we’ll walk across the street to Pentagon Row for a meal. There are several restaurants to choose from.

RSVPs open the Wednesday before at 8 PM.

Any geared bike except a folding bike is acceptable provided it is in good working condition (tires fully inflated !), has lights, and has a working bell. You must wear a helmet. Glasses are recommended. Bring water. A bike lock is recommended in case you need to leave your bike somewhere.
