What weāre about
Aloha! This is a diverse, active, group for anyone who is interested in meeting new people and having a good time. We organize happy hours, hikes, volunteer events, plopping on the beach afternoons, movie nights and more. Suggestions for events are always welcome!!
We strive to be an inclusive, supportive, kind, politically and drama free group (well most of the time anyway).Ā Everyone is welcome and we look forward to meeting you!
Considering joining us, please take a moment to review our past and upcoming events. This is a public group, so you can see members' comments and event photos too. IfĀ you want to be a member, we want you in our ohana.
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Last Pau Hana @ Dave & Busters - Ward CenterDave & Buster's Honolulu, Honolulu, HI
Last March, Dave & Busters re-started their Pau Hana series featuring local performers (mostly Hawaiian), playing live on their rooftop. The series continues each Friday through November. Barbara, a member, attends most Fridays.
Sadly, this will be the last of these events. As you probably know, Dave & Busters is moving to Ala Moana in the Spring. Who knows, maybe this event will re-surface in the new location.
The good news: the music was excellent. Look forward to local musicians playing local music, and who knows, maybe some surprises.
The great news: drink specials!!
$2 draft pacifico all night. $5 silver patron and vodka shots. And happy hour til 6pm: 50% off cocktails and deals on other beers.

website | menu | yelp - 3āļø / $$ - RESCHEDULED: HI Interactive Mural Walk in Kakaāako followed by pau hanaSALT at Kakaāako, Honolulu , HI
Aloha friends. This is a rescheduled event from yesterdayās cancellation due to the weather. Itās been awhile since weāve done this walk so I figure that this may be a good time since the weather has cooled down some. With over 300+ murals all thru Kakaāako thereās no shortage of artistic talent in Honolulu. However, you probably didnāt know that some of the murals are interactive. Best part is the walking and viewing of murals is FREE. Unfortunately, the after stroll fellowship at the pub is not. So, I invite you to come join on a short stroll thru the neighborhood to take in some local art and join us in fellowship after the walk. A couple of reminders:
-
Although this is a relatively easy walk, please bring some water and use sun screen as needed. We will walk at a leisurely pace, but you are responsible for your own fitness level. The walk is about 1.5 hours long.
-
My plan Is to do this event again before Christmas since many folks may be off-island for
Thanksgiving weekend. -
Public parking is all throughout Kakaāako, thereās the parking garage adjacent to the Salt complex and also metered parking throughout. Thereās a bus that stops on Ala Moana Boulevard right in front of the Highway Inn which is about a 5-minute walk to the link-up point.
-
Every one is responsible for their own tab at pau hana. Pau hana location is TBD, but it will
be an establishment in Kakaāako. -
Keep an eye out on Meet-Up chat the day of the event in the event I have to postpone due to inclement weather.
-
Download the POW! WOW! AR app off the Apple Store. You will need this for the interactive experience. Also, if you have headphones or Air Pods, recommend you bring them so you can hear the background music.

- Mediterranean cuisine - culinary dinner at Kaāikena Lauaāe at KCCKapiolani Community College, Honolulu, HI
I feel very lucky to have gotten reservations for 6 on 12/3 at 5:30pm (very limited reservations) and wanted to share the experience with some of you.
The OHELO Building is being renovated so they relocated the dining experience to the 220 Grille space located on the 2nd floor of OHIA building.
Ka`Ikena Laua`e is a learning laboratory operated by Culinary students under the direction of Chef Instructors.
Ka Ikena is a culinary school restaurant located at Kapiolani Community College offering a 3 course dinning experience for the price of one entree ($42-$53 depending on entree / drink choice). Reviews state that itās a great place to have a wonderful dinner without breaking the bank on the island. With their limited hours and seating times, this opportunity only comes around a couple times a year.
Because the restaurant doesnāt sell alcohol, it is permitted to bring either beer or wine. Unfortunately, no mixed drinks are allowed.
ā©Here is the dinner menu.
Parking
Park on campus and we will meet in front of the restaurant at 5:15PM. Please be on time, and allow travel time for traffic.
The Bus has many stops to the campus as well.
Dress is business casual.IMPORTANT: RSVPās are required to show. Please NO last minute cancellations as the reservation is for 6 people and we all need to show up. Thanks for your cooperation!
