🎷Jazz Night and Dinner at The Edge (at 31 North) - Chinatown
Details
I don't know much about The Edge at 31 North, except it's relatively new (Summer, 2023) and they describe their menu as asian fusion (I have a photo of the dinner menu below). So why THIS restaurant? It's all about the jazz baby.
Long before meetup, for two years I trekked from Kapolei to Chinatown, to get my weekly hit of jazz at Dragon Upstairs. Covid came & went, and gone were Friday night double sets of jazz, with the Chris Yeh Band (keyboard, bass guitar & drums). I got to thinking, what ever happened to Chris and his alto sax?
He turned up at Da Spot in Mōʻiliʻili with his quintet (adding a trumpeter), back in January. I got the kat's digits & now he lets me know when he'll be in town (he lives in Japan). Earlier this year we caught the band at Honolulu Beerworks (also in January and August). This time it's a dinner gig.
Chris & his band will be doing a set from 5:30-7:30, which coincides with our dinner reservations. Our group will share two tables. After dinner I'll walk over to Capitol Modern for some First Friday festivities.
Jazz musicians live a nomadic life here in town, but if I can figure out where the jazz will be - in a timely manner - I'll post more jazz events. Come chill with me.
💵
The entrees are moderately priced, based on the dinner menu (see below); bring cash or be able to pay with venmo. Due to the size of our group we'll no doubt have to share bills.
