What we’re about
Humanism is a non-theistic world view. Humanists are interested in human rights, the separation of church and state, and making the world a better place for everyone. We look to science, reason, and empathy to guide us in looking for solutions to problems in our lives and in the world.
Some of the goals of our group:
- to create a supportive community for humanists in CNY
- to put our values into action by helping the local community through volunteering and community service
- to educate people about humanism and other non-theistic worldviews

Join us to volunteer at the Annual We Rise Above the Streets Thanksgiving Dinner on November 23rd, the Saturday before Thanksgiving. It's a wonderful event—a great way to kick off the holiday season!
Last year everyone had fun, both volunteers and the folks we were serving. There was turkey and all the fixings, tons of desserts, a DJ, haricuts, and clothing, coats, and shoes. A really festive atmosphere, and so appreciated by the guests.
Volunteers are being asked to sign up at https://www.streetsrecoveryoutreach.org/team. You aren’t required to bring food, but if you can let them know what you’re planning to bring, it will help them plan. Where it asks if you're part of a group, you can put Central New York Humanist Association.
Please also shoot us an email at [email protected] to let us know you plan to come, so we can pass on any updates to you.
See you there! - Winter Solstice Potluck 2024Needs location
Join us for a relaxed potluck and some warm winter cheer!
Bring a dish to pass. We’ll have a chance to look back over the past year, visit and catch up, and, of course, we’ll have our annual trivia (or similar) game—complete with prizes!
Please RSVP to [email protected] for location information!
