This is our weekly social event. Come and make some new friends and have fun with the familiar ones!

We will meet at the big parking lot at the "Y" of Schultz Pass Road and Mt Elden Road near the north end where the trail starts. We will hike up the Chimney Trail (west of Schultz Creek) and back the Schultz Creek Trail (east of the creek). It could be a windy and snowy day.

A little spin on a typical book club - inspired by a club I host in Tucson called Read & Run - let's get some exercise and enjoy talking about a popular book club read!

This month - due to uncertain weather and possible muddy or snowy trails - let's walk the Coconino Stroll at Flagstaff Airport. It is a one mile out and one mile back -- the Coconino Stroll, a public art pathway that stretches from the economy parking lot to the terminal, showcases the history and culture of Flagstaff. So we can walk, talk and view one of Flagstaff's newest additions to public art! The airport also has a cute bistro we can sit in if the weather is not OK - and the art path is paved!

A Walk In The Park by Kevin Fedarko

Two friends, zero preparation, one dream. A few years after quitting his job to follow an ill-advised dream of becoming a guide on the Colorado River, Kevin Fedarko was approached by his best friend, National Geographic photographer Pete McBride, with a vision as bold as it was harebrained. Together, they would embark on an end-to-end traverse of the Grand Canyon, a journey that, McBride promised, would be “a walk in the park.” Against his better judgment, Fedarko agreed, unaware that the small cluster of experts who had completed the crossing billed it as “the toughest hike in the world.”
