What we’re about

For those that enjoy group outings. The chapter’s trip schedule includes day hikes, overnight backpacking outings, canoe trips, bicycling for both mountain bikers and those with street bikes, mountain climbing trips, including some in the High Peaks from a cabin rented for the weekend, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The chapter offers training workshops in the Utica-Rome-Herkimer area and volunteers share their knowledge on chapter trips. The Iroquois Chapter of ADK has “adopted” the 26,600 acre Ha-De-Ron-Dah Wilderness north of Route 28 and west of Thendara, most of which is in the Herkimer County Town of Webb. Volunteers from the chapter assist the state forest ranger in trail projects. Members also help with the Utica Marsh cleanup each year.

Adirondack Mountain Club Membership is $50 per year. Memberships are for a full year, no matter when you join. Iroquois Chapter membership right now is allowing people to join the meet up site without Adirondack Mountain Club Membership. But if you like what you see after a few trips you are encouraged to join at a meeting or via the ADK website. You can get more details on membership at https://www.adk.org

Meetings: Programs on a variety of topics are presented at chapter meetings held at 7:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of January, February, March, May, September, October and November at the New Hartford Presbyterian Church, 7 Oxford Road, New Hartford. The April meeting is an open house and the June meeting is replaced by the chapter’s annual picnic. The chapter has its annual dinner the first Saturday in December.
