What we’re about
This Meetup group is for Maui residents interested in sailing Catamarans, Trimarans, or other fast wind powered toys in our vast ocean playground. All skill levels are welcome, and even if you don't own a boat, your desire to be crew and/or learn is sufficient to have fun with those members who have these toys.
10 reasons to join:
If you want to learn how to sail; You may be a Stray Cat.
If you love the ocean and like getting wet; You may be a Stray Cat.
If you want to socialize with sailors, and help rig and crew; You may be a Stray Cat.
If speed and flying without a motor sounds inviting; You may be a Stray Cat.
If you own a Catamaran, Trimaran, or fast sail vessel; You may be a Stray Cat.
If you troll fish, or foil (tow) while sailing; You may be a Stray Cat.
If you possess the ability to pull yourself on to a boat; You may be a Stray Cat.
If you want to meet others that love Maui waters; You may be a Stray Cat.
If you think sailing and having a carbonated malt beverage after we beach the cat is relaxing; you may be a Stray Cat.
If you believe that whenever there are at least two boats in the water, there's a race; You definitely need to be a Stray Cat.
Initial activities like having a sailing class or two, casual sailing, sailing on trapeze, sailing with tow board (Foil board or small SUP), and fishing, will build confidence and skill. Based on the various types/class of member vessels, we will progress into more organized skill building activities like racing in the day, sunset sails, over-nite beach camp-out, morning fishing, and more afternoon sailing. Dreaming of an inter-island camp-out.
My intent is to make four boat owners a host/organizer in this group so we can plan activities around each leader's schedule--not just mine.
