What we’re about
Tennis is fun! Doubles tennis is double the fun! This group is PRIMARILY for players who are USTA 3.5 rated (strong intermediate) and above. We offer some events for 3.0 level players, but NO BEGINNERS OR ADVANCED BEGINNERS. In general, 3.5 players are expected to consistently keep the ball in play with their serves, groundstrokes, and volleys, and know correct doubles positioning. For example, players should not hang out in "no man's zone"--between the baseline and the service line! And there is a difference between offensive and defensive net position!!
We have a ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY FOR NO-SHOWS: No-shows will be removed from the group but might be allowed to rejoin after a hiatus. Since doubles tennis requires 4 players, it is critical that those who sign up show up! The deadline for cancellations is THE EVENING (or AFTERNOON) BEFORE THE EVENT. We want to give waitlist players 24-HOUR notification of "going" before the event.
We rotate players every 25-30 minutes. Participants are responsible for staying within their own physical limits and practicing caution. All sports activities carry some risk of injury. Please bring a new can of tennis balls.
Tennis is the second most popular sport in the world! It is one of the highest-rated sports for sociability and creativity--think about all the shot selections you can make, especially in doubles. It is inexpensive and can be played year-round. Studies show that tennis players live longer! So, let's play tennis! Often.
