Tuesday, Tuesday, RMCC Climbing Tuesday!
Join us for the RMCC tradition: Tuesday night climbing after dark! Daylight Savings is gone for the year, but we don't let that get us down. It's time to grab some lights and keep on climbing. Don't let the darkness hold you back: we meet at Beverly Heights Park at the base of Lookout every Tuesday, weather permitting, until the warmth returns in the spring. We'll group up about 5:25pm for introductions, route overview, sign-in, and other formalities. We plan to roll at about 5:30.
We'll follow our usual route (see below), though we may make changes depending on weather and road conditions. Snowfall usually melts within a few days, but icy conditions may require riding up or down US 40 instead. Changes will largely be a game-time decision, covered in the route walk-through and potentially adjusted as we progress.

As is the nature of rides with long climbs, this is a drop/regroup ride. Generally speaking, if you're able to complete Lookout solo in ~30 minutes you'll be able to rejoin at the regroup points. These rides will go at a more conversational pace (for some), and we will roll from the parking area by Buffalo Bill's grave at 6:05. For you Zwifters and powermeter users, a power output of 2.7 w/kg is a good starting point. Expect some separation on the climbs, with opportunities to rejoin at one of several regroup points. Being comfortable in a draft will help on some of the flatter / roller sections.
This event will be canceled if weather or roadways are not conducive for a safe, fun ride. We'll cancel as early as possible, however be prepared for game-time calls as conditions can be unpredictable in the foothills.
Note: Strong, dependable lights are required for this ride. Also, note that temps at the top in Genesee can be 10-20 degrees cooler than those at the start, so layering is essential for a successful ride. Gloves (maybe even a light pair and a heavy pair), a hat, shoe covers, and windproof layers have all been used successfully by riders on this ride. Finally, this ride will be canceled if temps at the start are forecast to be below 25 degrees.
We hope to see you out there!
