What we’re about
The Grand Canyon Chapter IS the Arizona State Chapter of the Sierra Club.
The mission of the Sierra Club is simple:
To explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth.
As the Grand Canyon Chapter, we are primarily concerned with conservation, wildlife and wilderness issues, water, clean energy, and addressing climate change.
A full list of local Sierra Club outings (hikes, backpacks, service, etc.), activities, and meetings can be seen here.
Everyone is welcome to participate in our outings and events, and you are encouraged to join the 3 million of your friends and neighbors who want:
a safe and healthy community in which to live
smart energy solutions to combat climate change
an enduring legacy for America's wild places
Since 1892, the Sierra Club has been working to protect communities, wild places, and the planet itself. We are the largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization in the United States. And our founder, John Muir, appears on the back of the California quarter.
