What we’re about
Snohomish County makers seeking like-minded for shared skills, equipment, projects.
We are looking for new and used (skilled, ha-ha) makers to join us putting on workshops, social events, and sharing workshop time. We have interests in electronics, programming, robotics, microcontrollers, 3D printing, laser cutters (additive and subtractive technologies), arts, molding, casting, routing, and woodworking. We have a great space in South Everett a stones throw from Boeing with super easy access for drivers and bus riders alike. Join us at an open house and bring a friend!
*** Requesting to join our meetup group? Make sure you are obviously part of the local area (members of other area groups, a photo, OR something that says “hey I’m not a robot”... at a minimum be a little chatty in the join question. We get a lot of attempted spammers requesting a join and decline people from out of the area***
Our website is http://www.snocomakers.org and if you need some technical help or conversation join us at our facebook group page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/10576893376...
We hope you will consider membership for access outside workshops! If you feel like you'd qualify for a scholarship membership please contact any board member or officer. We will put the tools in your hands and show you how to use them.

- Makerspace Laser BuildNeeds location
Help SnoCo Makerspace build our very own CO2 laser.
No prior laser building skills are required; my role is to train and supervise and where needed provide the proper PPE and tools, so just show up! However, we will be working with AC line voltage, water, high voltage (20,000V) and invisible IR energy that vaporizes organic matter on contact, so you must be a member to be covered by our liability insurance.
Depending on turn out, this may go faster or slower. Generally, these are the areas we are working on and we may or may not get to things on a certain day. We may also parallel task some of this work to get a head start on assembly.
Task Description (skills taught)
Enclosure - Aluminum extrusion work (tapping, drilling, extrusion assembly)
Motion - Building the OpenBuilds C-Beam sliders (mechanical assembly)
Motion - Building the motor and pulley tensioner subsystems (processing 3D Printed parts, mechanical assembly)
Optics - Building the kinematic tube mount (processing 3D Printed parts, mechanical assembly)
Optics - Building the mirror box assembly (processing 3D Printed parts, mechanical assembly, optical component handling)
Electrical - Wiring harness build (wire stripping and crimping, electrical troubleshooting)
Electrical - Control panel wiring (wire stripping and crimping, schematic reading, electrical troubleshooting)
Electrical - Wire management (wire management)
Please join our Discord (if you haven't already) and post a message into #makerspace-laser-build and introduce yourself and what you are interested in so I can plan the build.
