ABOUT THE CLINIC: This is for people that want to learn how to play pickle ball and have never played or very limited experience playing the game. After a brief introduction, you will learn to play... by playing. You will be introduced to the rules, shots, serve, and strategy for winning. At the end of two hours in the clinic, you will be a proficient pickle ball player capable of playing the sport at a beginning level. Paddles and balls will be provided by the event host/instructor or bring your own.
Additional note: These free lessons available to the public are sanctioned by and under contract with the City of Laguna Niguel. As such, courts are reserved for this purpose. Please RSVP only if committed to play, as court space is limited. Meetup players are encouraged to follow the court protocol, as established and published by City of Laguna Niguel.
ABOUT PICKLEBALL: The sport has been around for over fifty years. Legend has it that three guys wanted their kids to play badminton, but couldn't find a shuttlecock.... so they lowered the net for play with a plastic woffleball. One of the moms named the game for a rowing boat that is the last to depart with only the crew chosen as leftovers from other boats. The founders named their dog "Pickles" in honor of the game, although some believe the sport was named after the dog. Pickleball is now the fastest growing sport in America!
DRIVING DIRECTIONS: From the 5 Freeway, take the Crown Valley Pkwy. exit heading west toward the ocean... turn left on Adelanto Dr.... park on Adelanto after 9 AM.... look for the park entry between the elementary school and Crown Valley... walk past the baseball fields to the eight dedicated pickle ball courts on the far south/easterly side of the park. Restrooms are available in the park, between the baseball fields.
