The Seaford Drum is a monthly (last sun of every month) drop-in drumming group. All welcome.
People of all ages are welcome (if you come with kids we encourage you to drum with them - this can be a lovely experience and it means that they can settle and have the pleasure of being absorbed into the larger energy of the group)
Experienced as well as new drummers are also welcome.
We provide hand drums, stick drums and a variety of percussion dependent on your needs.
If you have your own drum, do bring it along :)
The session will be flavoured by world rhythms collected over 20 years from across the globe. Having studied and worked alongside master percussionists from many different countries, Jamie uses the simple rhythmic pulse to bring a group together and build the foundation upon which infinite musical variations can be explored. The approach is very much learning by absorption. Turn up and take part and over time you'll absorb useful new techniques, a greater ability to listen & respond in rhythm & some great sounding drum patterns.
The emphasis on these sessions is community, so whatever your level, if you want to come together with a group for an hour and bang a drum in time, you are welcome. This practice, which has shown up in numerous cultures over decades, is a proven way to increase oxytocin (the wellbeing hormone in the system), relieve stress, connect with others and feel good!
We are hosted by the lovely Jon who runs Brewsters Coffee Co stand providing a lovely selection of cakes, teas and the best coffee I've tasted down this way, so you can treat yourself to a snack, have a drum, and then take a beautiful walk over Seaford Head.. if you like :)
Hope to see you at a Seaford Drum Circle soon!
