What we’re about
Want to volunteer in your community and make some great friends along the way? Then this is the group for you! Founded by former members of Austin Kiwanis Young Professionals, We Serve Austin - Young Professionals is designed for busy young adults in their 20s and 30s who: a) want to meet fellow young professionals who share their passion for volunteering; b) go out and perform a variety of community service projects in the Austin area; and c) get together to socialize both after projects and occasionally during the month. Our formula is simple. Each month will schedule a few service projects. We'll try to keep a good balance between recurring and one-time projects, and all projects will occur on weeknights or weekends when young professionals are most available. After each project we'll have a lunch/dinner, happy hour, or something else planned. And we'll have 1-2 stand alone socials planned during the month. This is the core of the group - service and fellowship.
Before participating, I encourage all volunteer enthusiasts to read our Volunteer Liability Release and our Cancellation and No-Show Policy.

This is the fun part! We pack boxes of food at the warehouse every month. This is where we get to give out those boxes to those in need!
Cars will line-up at the school. Then we will load up their trunk full of food!
I know this is a bit far to get too, but we'll reach a lot of families in need. May-August is also when the food bank needs more volunteers.
The demand of food goes up when school is out and kids still need to be fed.
You will need to register through the Central Texas Food Bank to attend.
Sign up here in addition to the Meetup RSVP
*Please* do not RSVP with the food bank until you are officially attending with our Meetup group (AKA not waitlisted)! We've had people on the waitlist register with the food bank, which causes confusion over whether or not people should be attending.
Be sure to RSVP to the food bank as well as this Meetup!
These events typically have a waitlist. So if you are not registered with the food bank within a few days of the event. you may be removed from this event. We want to be fair and allow everyone to have a chance to attend. This is an in-person event. Please only come out if you are comfortable interacting with others. See their FAQ below for more safety info.
