Description

Fast paced hike, abou 2 hours, 6 to 7 miles.

Terrain: Easy to moderate, mainly rolling hills.

This is not a beginner hike. We tend to walk at a brisk pace. Please assess your ability to keep this pace before signing up.

Cancellation notices: If cancellation is necessary, it will be posted on the afternoon of the hike.

Pets: Friendly, well behaved dogs are welcome. The park requires dogs to be leashed at all times. It is possible that we will encounter one or more horses with riders or carriages. They have the right of way and you are expected to control your dog.

Liability Waiver: This is a fun and interesting group of people who enjoy hiking and socializing, it is not organized by a professional hiker.
Hiking or outdoor activities have inherent risks. Your participation in our hikes or other events could be dangerous and can result in serious injury, medical emergency, even death.

You are invited to join us for a 6-mile hike with 900 feet elevation. This hike will take about 4 hours. Relatively easy hike with a few hundred yards of moderate challenge. After a couple of hours, we will stop at the lake near The Big Island for a snack.
We will meet at Big Woods Trailhead Parking, Route 301, Cold Spring, NY 41.44481, -73.86600 for a prompt 9:00 AM start. We will take the (Y) Perkins to (B) Fahnestock to (R) Charcoal Burners to (Y) Perkins.
Trail Map: NYNJ Trail Conference East Hudson #103 or digital map of your choice.

Bring appropriate gear including a light/headlamp, food, and water. Review/bring your map to be aware of topography and our location.
Check the weather and dress appropriately. During hunting season, burnt orange- or a highly visible color- should be worn.
Weather: Heavy rain cancels.
If Unable to Attend: Please cancel at least 48 hours prior to the event, so people on the waitlist can attend. If on the day of the event, you cannot make it, please take your name off the going list. Not attending hikers will be marked as “No-Show.” People with multiple “No-Show” will not be allowed on future hikes. Thanks....
