UPDATE 1.5.23
This is a Salsa class night of three class levels with social dancing between classes. We offer technical and fun classes with a set syllabus and feedback given to all dancers throughout their learning. We cover all salsa styles and bachata in the classes. There is one fee per night, so as you progress through the levels you can come along eventually and stay with us all evening.
Please bring a drink along as there is no bar service.

We are now completely back to operating as before the pandemic.
You are no longer required to bring a LFT result with you.
You can just 'drop' into dance sessions, no need to book!
Your instructors will continue to test and are fully vaccinated. We will continue to provide sanitiser stations.

With new guidelines and the increasing rise of the Omicron variant,all class participants must now bring to class proof of a negative LFT reported to the NHS. This can be a confirmation email or text from the NHS.

Both class nights now follow this format;
6:30 Beginners followed by 15 mins dancing.
7:45 Level 2 followed by 15 mins dancing.

£8 if paying as you go or £70 for a 10 class card.

We have been through lots of changes in the last 20 months since the start of the pandemic and we are now BACK to where we started.

Class times : we are experimenting with a new format, these times may change in the future.

  7:40pm Level 3
  8:45pm Level 2
  Social Dancing until 10:30pm
  Doors close 11pm.
  £8 per evening or buy 10 nights for £70.

  COVID MITIGATIONS:
  Although restrictions in law have now been lifted, I would ask all dancers to be considerate of each others feelings and worries.
  I will operate as flexible a class space as is practically possible.
  Face coverings: Wearing a face covering is now voluntary. I would ask you to volunteer to wear a face covering when dancing with another person wearing one. I know a few of you are wanting to carry on using them for the time being. So please continue to bring one to class, in case you need it.
  Partner sharing: Partner sharing will return to the class.
  Don't want to partner share? No problem, I will allocate space for those wanting to continue to distance themselves. Let me know at the start of the class.
  Ventilation: Doors and or windows will remain open. On colder nights please wear layers.
  Sanitiser: I will continue to provide hand sanitiser and will regularly ask you to use it.
  DON'T COME TO CLASS IF YOU HAVE ANY FEELINGS OF BEING UNWELL, particularly if you have any of the four most recognised symptoms of Covid 19.
  If you are tested positive for Covid 19, please inform us asap, so we can inform all those who attended your class.
  Your instructors: We are Lateral Flow testing before class and I would ask you to consider regularly testing yourselves before dancing with lots of partners. Though not 100 percent accurate, it does give you a good indicator of your status. You can get them free from your chemist.
  I am fully vaccinated with both doses.
  Booking: Except new dancers on their first night, we no longer need you to pre book a place. I will however ask you to sign in so we have a list of class members in each level.

Under new guidelines introduced to combat the continued rise of the Omicron variant, we now require all class attendees to bring to class proof of a negative LFT reported to the NHS in the 12 hours before the class.

We are moving to a NEW CENTRAL WETHERBY LOCATION STARTING TUESDAY NOVEMBER 16TH
Wetherby class nights will be on TUESDAYS from now on.
New venue: St James Church rooms, Church St, Wetherby LS22 6LP
Parking in the car park opposite the hall and behind the hall is free to hall users. If full, town centre parking is free and unrestricted after 6pm.
Class times from the 16th will be as follows:
6:30 Beginners followed by 15mins dancing
7:45 Level 2 followed by 15mins dancing
9pm Level 3 followed by 30mins dancing
Classes cost £8 for one or buy 10 class card for £70
Student discount is on promotion atm until Xmas and is currently £4, returning to £6 after Xmas.

Hi I'm Trisha, the owner of Strictly Salsa. I've been teaching Salsa dancing for the last eighteen years in York and Wetherby. I also organise lots of different dancing events.
We've been through lots of changes due to the pandemic, but I am pleased to say that all our classes are BACK ON MONDAYS in YORK and THURSDAYS in WETHERBY. Our monthly social nights are successfully running now in a new venue over in Harrogate.

Re: Covid mitigations
Instructors are LFT tested before every class night and are fully vaccinated. We encourage you to test yourselves as tests are easy to access from your local chemists. Though not perfect, a test will help give you peace of mind attending a partner class where we all dance with each other.
We have a flexible approach at class nights for those happy to partner share and those wanting to stay separate and will accommodate both.
Wearing a face covering is voluntary. Most are choosing not to wear
one currently.
Double exit doors to the outside from the dance floor remain open whatever the weather, please wear warm layers on colder evenings.
Sanitiser is available around the room, please use at regular intervals.

We have had the privilege to inspire and teach some of the best and most well known Salseros, Salseras in the North. We assess and give personal feedback to all our dancers and move them through the class levels based upon ability. Aiming to give you the confidence and skills to allow you to join in the wider Salsa social scene. We always encourage a friendly supportive atmosphere throughout all class levels and add a good dollop of FUN !!
