CHARITY FUNDRAISER: Autumn Colours on the Kennet and Avon Canal
Details
CHARITY FUNDRAISER FOR ST LUKE'S HOSPICE IN MEMORY OF STEVE'S DAD JOHN MYNARD
Payment is in advance for this tour. Once you have booked your place on Meet Up, Steve will be in touch about paying the walk fee to secure your place.
All proceeds from this walk go to St Luke's Hospice in Essex
Our linear walk takes us for five miles along the Kennet and Avon Canal to Dundas Aqueduct. We will explore the industrial heritage of this delightful route and enjoy the autumn colours reflecting in the canal waters. We will take a take a look at the fine aqueducts at Avoncliff and Dundas and hear of the work of William Smith, the Father of English Geology, on the Somerset Coal Canal.
We will lift share back to Bradford on Avon after coffee at the Angelfish Cafe.
As is our custom a historical travelogue style article based on Steve's research notes will be emailed out to walkers after the walk. This will allow you to hold on to what you have picked up from our exploration of Bradford on Avon and the Kennet and Avon Canal.
A Walk in the Past is a friendly group where regulars and newcomers are always welcome. Our aim is to combine a good walk with pleasant company in historic landscapes.
If you would like to lift share from Bath or Bristol for this event please use the comments board below to facilitate this.
