Action Makerspace*, the birth of
Welcome friends of making*. I have a dream and goal of creating a world class makerspace* right here in the high desert. This Meetup Group is one of the first steps -- Maker’s Meetup is now Action Makerspace. I’ve created 2 months of exciting meetings, where we have great opportunities to express our creative and mechanical skills in an environment where we can learn about and use tools and techniques, all while having an exciting time socially. Get on the bus, we don’t stop here twice.

Who am I? Retired computer projects consultant for: CalPERS, California State Lottery and SAIC. So I know a bunch about programming, websites, computer architecture with a smidge of electronics. My father was a mechanic, so I learned all about engines. Now I have a junk pile almost as big as my dreams for a makerspace.
DEFINITIONS
* Maker The people, company or club that make something physical. The maker uses tools in any and often many specialties to create something usually physical.
A contemporary subculture representing a technology-based extension of DIY culture that intersects with hardware-oriented parts of hacker culture and revels in the creation of new devices as well as tinkering with existing ones.
* Makerspace a place in which people with shared interests, especially in computing or technology, can gather to work on projects while sharing ideas, learning, equipment, and knowledge.
