Tuesday Hike (Hybrid)-Mendon Ponds Park-Southern Meadow and East Esker

Two-hour hybrid hike split between a 45-minute, 1.5-mile loop on wide, well-maintained trails heading to the Southern Meadow, then a 75 minute, 2.3 mile, approx. 420' of elevation ascent/descent moderate section at a faster pace on the East Esker Trail for the rest of the 2-hour hike. Meet 9:45am in the East Esker Trail parking lot (43.015279, -77.566501, 67 Pond Rd, Honeoye Falls, NY 14472) at the intersection of Douglas and Pond Roads for a 10:00am hike start. Some trails are a bit rougher or leaf covered with several short steep climbs or descents, but most of the hike will be on wide well-maintained trails. Please dress for the weather, bring some water to drink, and wear boots or trail shoes with good traction. Depending on winter trail conditions microspike traction devices may be needed. Our hybrid hikes consist of 2 loops that allow us to drop off hikers who prefer a 40-minute to 1-hour easier hike at a slightly slower pace with less elevation change, then continue for the rest of the 2 hours at a faster pace with some short climbs. This allows all of us to keep hiking together, when some of our old and new friends need to shorten their hike or some are just starting back hiking after a time off or recovering from surgery.
