There were several individuals that could not make the November meet up to hike at the Wichitas. So, I'm offering a second hike to, hopefully, accommodate those folks.

Meet up at the visitor center for a day hike in the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge.

We can decide as a group which hike everyone wants to do once we meet up. Will plan to hike 3-4 hours with rest breaks.

This hike is weather dependent. I will not drive/hike in inclement weather or if the temperature during hiking is under 50 degrees so please check the meetup site before heading that way to ensure the hike is still on.

Please dress accordingly. Layers are best.

Ensure you have adequate nutrition and hydration with you as there are no clean water sources once we are on the trail.

Join us for a First Day Hike!

We will meet up at the Carlton Lake Parking Area for a day hike at Robber's Cave State Park.

I am planning to do the Rough Canyon Loop, which is appx 3 miles and takes hikers along the rock bluffs overlooking Carlton Lake. We will plan to hike 3-4 hours with rest breaks.

(FYI - I did the 1st day hike last year with a park ranger at Robber's Cave. It was fantastic. I am unable to find any information about first day hikes at this state park for 2025. If one is offered the day/times we are there, that could be a great option if someone wanted to do a guided hike or a different hike than the one I have planned. I'll try to have more information available about that as the meetup date approaches.)
