We meet at Oxenholme Lake District Station, on the edge of Kendal. Oxenholme is in the countryside yet arguably has the best connected station in the UK, with fantastic direct train services to Manchester, London, Glasgow, Edinburgh and other towns and cities.
This is nice and flat and takes us along the River Kent. There are various options (and great names) for stops, including The Station Inn, Sizergh Castle and Low Barn, Nannypie Lane and Sedgewick.
This 8 mile (12km) walk takes approximately 4.25 hours. The route is relatively flat and easy; perfect for a winter's day.
We walk at a slow / steady pace for this hike, only a low / moderate level of fitness is required.
The event starts at Oxenholme Station Car Park and ends at The Station Inn (a couple of minute's walk from the train station), where we also pop in for a chat and drink at the end of the walk.
