Join us for a day out paddling the River Lea We will spend a relaxed day Paddle boarding in Hertfordshire from Broxbourne and back.

This is for experienced paddle boarders only with a minimum 16hrs paddling experience.
Please see prerequisites / equipment list needed
Not for complete beginners.

4 hours (including kitting up) Cost is £40 P/P
Start time - 10.00am
End time - 2.00pm

We will embark on a scenic paddle along the River Lea, commencing at Broxbourne. Our adventure will take us along the tranquil waters of the River Lea towards the river Stort and then back again. With a touch of luck, we might catch glimpses of majestic Herons, graceful Swallows, and elegant Great Crested Grebes along the way.
Kit and Equipment is provided
• Paddleboard
• Paddle
• Leash
• Safety belt
• Bouyancy Aids.

Experience Level: (Level 2 or above)
As we move into the colder months our paddle boarding sessions are for experienced paddlers only due to the cold water and more challenging conditions.
You must be a confident paddlers who has paddle boarded before for a minimum of 16hrs, you must be confident standing, can paddle straight, turn and steer out of danger. Self launch and get on/ off the water without assistance.

By train - Broxbourne Station About 10 mins walk from station

Safety:
Everyone will be provided with a buoyancy aid and a quick release belt. You must be able to swim 20 meters. The paddleboards are suitable for anyone up to 85kg / 13.5stone.
Adventure women is a delivery partner for Paddle UK (British Canoeing). This session is run by a qualified and insured paddle Sport leader / instructor. Outdoor First Aider, British Canoeing foundation rescue and safety qualified.

What to wear/ bring:
As we move into the colder months, it is really important you are warm enough. Please check the weather on the day of attending and bring appropriate clothing.
You will need to wear a wetsuit / drysuit or thermal layers. (not provided)

You need to also bring with you:
Spare fleece, gloves and warm hat (to keep in a dry bag)
Fleece/ lightweight waterproof jacket / Waterproof trousers
Trainers or Water shoes / boots
Complete change of clothing (to keep in your car (or mine if coming by train)
Towel
Drink (min 1 ltr) (Warm flask if you have one!)
Lunch
Snacks

Weather:
We love the sun but if it is having a day off please be aware this activity will still go ahead in the rain. (You will splash yourself anyway!) Please dress for the weather.

Unsafe weather conditions:
We will monitor the weather and may have to cancel at short notice (the morning of the event) if weather conditions look to be unsafe to paddle. Unsafe conditions include strong winds, heavy downpours, thunder and lightning. In the instance of strong winds we may be able to change location. We will message the day before if there is any concern about the weather.

Refunds:
Payments are non refundable if you decide to not come/ change your mind. However if the activity is cancelled due dangerous weather conditions then we will refund your payment. Paddle Grades:
0- Novice paddlers - those who have never paddled before
1 - Beginner paddler, have done some paddling or attended one of our previous trips/ lessons or Have a British Canoeing Start Award. Can paddle straight and turn.
2- Intermediate Paddler - have paddled with us on several trips or have a British Canoeing Discover award. You have paddled several times, are confident in launching, portages, can turn and can paddle straight, can confidently steer out of danger. Can demonstrate Self Rescue.
3 - Advanced Paddler. Have the ability to self rescue. Very confident on water and controlling craft. Can paddle upstream on moving water (Sheltered & Open) Have a British Canoeing Explore award or similar. Have ability to help other paddlers in difficulty.
