For November and December, the transition time between forest hikes and winter snow events, I'm resurrecting Sunday Portland urban walks, weaving between residential and parks, using streets, trails, and staircases, to enjoy the terrain, history, architecture and flora of Portland neighborhoods (and to get me out of bed!). They are taken from Laura Foster's 2013 [Portland Hill ](https://www.powells.com/book/portland-hill-walks-2nd-edition-24-explorations-in-parks-neighborhoods-9781604693256/?srsltid=AfmBOopCItxXNVFlDVJkDz6xTw0WeQMF5r4ueGh6z6a7Ls8ba2Z-zUQv)Walks and [Portland City](https://www.thebooktique.org/product/124889/Portland-City-Walks-Twenty-Explorations-In-and-Around-Town) Walks.

This Walk: Both moody and peaceful with its juxtapositions nature's renewal and human finiturde. It includes a descent on trails into a forested canyon, passing over a wild creek that in spring evokes the Oregon Cascades. From there, it climbs paved and unpaved streets through historic hilltop cemeteries and then traverses more hills, through neighborhoods where homes are pleasant and the sky big and beautiful.
