About the show:
Vibist Rich Greenblatt has four recordings as a leader and has performed with a who’s who of jazz artists from Jerry Bergonzi to Greg Hopkins. He and pianist Mark Shilansky (longtime collaborators and Berklee colleagues) formed this quartet with bassist Greg Toro and drummer Mike Connors to explore the instrumentation of the Modern Jazz Quartet, delve deeply into classic jazz literature by artists like Horace Silver and John Scofield, reimagine the odd Beatles or Bob Dylan tune, and compose original music embracing modern jazz and latin idioms. All this culminates in their current recording projected for a 2022 release. Driving swing, introspective ballads, and telepathic interaction describe this band’s modus operandi, offering appeals to the mind and the heart.
