What we’re about
New Members: please read the following rules and guidelines before joining the group. We look forward to including you at our events!
Note to members:
Outdoor Adventures has a rule in place regarding a recognizable single person face photo prior to joining group (See detail at bottom of the page).
******
The base tenet of this group is respect for cultural differences and courtesy to other members and event organizers. The goal is to have fun and meet new people at events.
- Members are encouraged to talk to other participants and to welcome new members.
- Please avoid political, religious and other hot topics in a larger group.
- Polite behavior. Please keep it light at first as you get to know folks.
- We try to stay upbeat during large gatherings. We discourage folks regaling us with all their drama (ever) (Example: My Ex (wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend) divorced me and she/he did all these things ...) Those conversations are maybe for later when you know folks and are away from the large crowds.
- Do not ask embarrassing or deeply personal questions to folks you do not yet know. (Example: Why are you a divorced person..)
- We are not a singles group, but finding other people is natural. It is OK to ask if someone is available, but don't let that be the first thing out of your mouth. Show some subtlety.
- Your profile name must contain your first or last name, not your profession or the name of an object. (Banker, Mortgage, plastic are examples of non conforming names)
- Have a current single person, recognizable profile picture showing your face clearly before you join. (There is a meetup issue that does not allow picture updates one you add yourself to a group, so folks will be temporarily removed so they can correct their profile and rejoin)
- Keep your RSVP updated. In the case of no shows or late cancellation, there may be people on the wait list or waiting to see if slots open up that don't get to go because of late cancellations or no-shows.
Frequent late cancellations and/or no-shows may cause member being de-prioritized on the wait list or removal from this group.
A final note: Large events often overwhelm our venues ability to provide speedy service. Our events are more about social contact and conversation. Relax and enjoy the conversations and expect some delays. Please be courteous to our servers and our venues.
Folks are welcome to propose events and even lead their own events. Events are not limited to these following categories, so don't feel constrained:
- Hike and Walks
- Lunch outings
- Dinner outings
- Brunch
- Campouts
- Festivals
- Cultural outings
- Purely social events
- Trail & Town Biking
We are hoping to get volunteers for both hosting and becoming Event Organizers. Feel free to reach out.
Photo Rule additional detail: This serves multiple purposes.
· Security - We need to be able to tie back folks to their membership.
· Organizer recognition – The organizers need to be able to identify folks at events (And yes, we have had crashers)
· Member recognition – Members need to be able to identify the folks they have talked with.
A real life example: In another group, a participant was inappropriate with ladies. That group did not originally have any rule about pictures and the misbehaving party was never identified. There are other examples of behaviors that in Outdoor Adventures would have caused an expulsion. We take members safety as well as courtesy towards others seriously.

See all- Christmas BYOB Dinner @ Awesome Chinese (Multi Group event)Awesome Chinese Cuisine 五餅二魚, Plano, TX
Awesome 五餅二魚 is a relatively new, highly rated Chinese/Cantonese restaurant in Plano. (4.8- Google and 4.5 on Yelp ratings). The venue is open, well lit, clean and cheerful with excellent service and food.
This is a BYOB event, so feel free to bring your own wine, beer or spirits. I typically bring a bit extra to share.
For those wondering what the Cantonese style is compared to Szechuan, it is lower sodium and has fewer peppers and chilies. It is also more likely to be steamed or dipped in boiling water as opposed to being fried. While it lets through the fresh flavors of the ingredients, some prefer the salt and chilies and more fried flavors of other styles of cooking.
This will not be family style Each person participating will get a separate check and pay for what they order, However since the portions are quite large (enough for 2 or 3 people) it is OK for two or three people (max) groups to share and split their orders. Those who split into such groups can move chairs to sit together. Sharing is also fine, but the event is intended for those who know what they want and wish to have control over what is on their plates.
Those splitting a noodle dish and bringing their own wine/beer can expect to spend about $8, so this can be a fun and affordable evening.
What to expect: We will have a reservation for 40 (split between 4 groups). Each table holds 8–10 folks, so we will split into 4 tables. Orders will take place per table when that table is full and ready. Do not expect to order quickly because some members may be a bit late. Also, I ask patience for our servers, since we tend to overwhelm them as well as the kitchen with such a large party.
If we have enough demand, we may ask for a 5th table.
This is BYOB, so please bring something to drink, possibly share.

Several groups will be in attendance, but Outdoor Adventures rules will be expected to be held to. (Polite behavior, respect towards Cultural and Ethnic differences, avoid hot topics (politics, religion, conspiracy theories) and polite behavior towards the servers.) There may be up to 3 other groups in attendance.
Folks with good attendance records will get attendance priority over folks with a no-shows and late cancels. Poor attendance makes having events difficult for the group and for the venue, and is being cracked down on in several groups.
Please respond only if you are going to be here, as long wait lists discourage folks from attending events.
This will be a multi group event, so expect to meet 20–30 participants at the event. For those who wish to add a +1, I require a solemn promise that your RSVP be updated a full week ahead of the event and that I be contacted to add your +1. - Cool Weather Spring Campout/Cookout at Lake Murray (40 miles into Oklahoma)Tipps Point, Oklahoma, OK
For those of you that want to get outside, but like me are not fond of 95 degree weather, we are going to have a spring campout at Lake Murray. Lake Murray is clear enough for swimming and scuba diving, and the area is quite beautiful. Feel free to bring your bikes, Kayaks and hiking shoes. All that will be happening. I am targeting 20 to 30 folks between both group - max. Please post after signing up and reserving a space. Folks who have not reserved a space may be moved to the wait list as we fill up, so grab a space and lock in your attendance. If you are bringing guests add them as +1s. We are allowed 2 tents per site and there is a second tent charge.
Lake Murray also features clean single person locking shower and bathroom facilities at Tipp's Point.
2 groups are invited, Outdoor Adventures and NTO. For this event, OA rules are in effect:
- Requires a single person recognizable profile picture
- Polite behavior, Respect and tolerance for cultural and other differences and please do not bring up topics that may cause arguments.
- Please be a gentlema /gentle lady to the opposit sex. It is great to make a connection, but do not be aggressive.
- For full expectations and to know what group shares this event see: Outdoor Adventures Group Page
On the Saturday, assuming that folks are willing, we can do a pot luck. Food should be something that is prepared by your own hands, but if you don't cook, some decent restaurant take out would be acceptable. I encourage collaberation on other meals as well and will have extra cooking facilites on my site.
Tent sites at $20 to $24 per day.

Link to Reservations: Lake Murray Reservations
To reserve, navigate to TIpps point. There will be alink on the map to tent camping. There are also electric slots, but they are on the road instead of the lake. There are full Class A RV spots in the adjacent Tipps point maps and nearby Cabins for rent. To reserve space for more than one additional guest, please contact event organizer as there is a max headcount for the event and 3 or 4 person late cancels and no-shows will keep folks on the wait list from attending.Everyone will be expected to follow all state campground rules. This is a human only event. Pets have not always worked out well.
There will likely be a time they require the volume down and fires belong in the barbecues and fire pits.
Age ranges for children are 18 and up, but exceptions may be granted (Contact Organizer).
Please post in the meeting for need to borrow, have extras to loan, and also we need to start a list of who is attending the potluck (Not mandatory) and who is bringing what. Otherwise we run the risk of everyone bringing cole slaw or such and no salad, meat, etc. I myself will bring pork chops and hamburgers to share. I will also bring some extra ice, but I think we will all need ice. I will also bring my small camp propane cooktops, a small amount of firewood, charcoal, etc. Please bring firewood and charcoal for your site and if possible contribute to our main camp fire and the shared cooking area.
