It can be embarrassing and frustrating if you have a reactive Dachshund. You think that this time it will be different. As you start to pass the other dog, yours starts barking and lunging at the end of the leash. Flustered, you mutter a "sorry" as you shout at your dog to stop and try to drag them by. It doesn't have to be that way though.
During this Zoom presentation, we'll discuss why this happens, how to reduce your dog's reaction through management, and some training exercises that can help prevent outbursts in the future.
About Jessica: When I adopted my Dachshund Gretel, she was extremely reactive and on Prozac she was so anxious. She taught me so much about dog behavior and reactivity. Since then, I've had personal experience with over 100 Dachshunds through my dog sitting and walking clients, as well as this club. I am a certified Family Dog Mediator and Dachshund behavior coach.
