AYM Climb Night at PRG Beaverton
Details
PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION
What's 55 feet tall and now open to the public? The new rope walls at PRG Beaverton, henceforth known as the BRG. Join AYM at BRG for a fun night of climbing at the newest Portland area gym! After climbing for a while there is usually an opportunity to get food and beverages after for those who are interested.
This Climb Night is open to everyone (Mazama members and non-members), regardless of age or climbing ability. However, you'll be required to be belay certified if you want to rope climb (please note that most people who come to climb night have been top roping or lead climbing at least a couple of times, but new people are always welcome). BRG has bouldering, top rope climbing and lead climbing now. We'll meet at 6:30pm in the retail area of PRG Beaverton by the main entrance; we'll do a quick round of introductions and pair off belay partners.
What to Bring:
--A reusable water bottle is usually nice to have
--Climbing shoes/harness (rentals available) + chalk (optional)
--Membership card or money for day pass
-- ID (required at check-in if you are new to the gym)
--A friend :)
Parking Tips:
--There is ample car parking in the lot in front of the gym
--Bike parking is available in front of the building
Additional BRG Info:
--New to this gym? Please sign the waiver online ahead of time: https://www.portlandrockgym.com/waiver/ and remember to bring your ID for check-in
--Getting belay certified: If you already know how to belay, but need to get certified at Portland Rock Gym, plan on arriving 10-15 minutes early and ask a staff member to take the test.
While AYM leaders can give climbing tips, this event is NOT where you learn to climb. You can take introductory lessons from local gyms or learn to climb in the Mazamas Basic Climbing Education Program in the spring.

Adventurous Young Mazamas (AYM) offers outdoor activities year-round targeted to younger adults in their 20s & 30s and anyone who is young at heart. All activities are open to EVERYONE eighteen and over who can safely participate in our events.
If you are interested in hiking with us as well, learn more here: https://mazamas.org/AYM/ . We also host monthly pub nights as a social event to meet other like-minded folks in the hiking and climbing community.
If you RSVP, please plan on attending. No-shows are frowned upon and may be denied participation in future events. Similarly, last-minute cancellations prevent someone interested in a spot from attending. Thank you for your consideration.
