What we’re about
The Albany Ladies* Book Club reads one book a month and meets up for coffee/dinner at Professor Java's on the second Thursday of the month, with occasional summer social gatherings. Feel free to join, we look forward to meeting you!
If you have book suggestions, use the feedback form: https://forms.gle/swFzoMxSJsmSaJC19
Please limit yourself to 4-5 suggestions per voting period (typically twice a year). Thank you!
General Guidelines for Book Meetings:
- We will discuss the entire book - if you haven't read/finished it, you are more than welcome to come anyway but there will be spoilers!
- We typically take the first 15 minutes to settle in, order food/drinks, and then get started discussing the book. Expect a 6:45pm start time for discussion.
- You are never obligated to order something. Feel free to participate in the book discussion even if you only get a water.
- If you suspect you cannot attend, please adjust your RSVP so we know how many to expect.
- Be kind, be yourself, have fun :)
What We're Reading:
November - Nightcrawling by Leila Mottley
December - Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
January - The Fetishist by Katherine Min
February - Intermezzo by Sally Rooney
To see what we've read in the past, visit our Goodreads group: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1210723-albany-ladies-book-club
We don't post discussions on the GR group, but if you use the desktop site you can click "view activity" to see what other members thought of the book.
Membership Policies:
- *This is broadly a women's club, though nonbinary folks who consider themselves in kinship with women should feel welcome to join.
- Two no-shows may result in removal from the group. Be sure to update the RSVP!
- Members who are inactive on Meetup for 6+ months (measured by whether members have visited the group page, not necessarily that members have attended events) will be removed, only to keep the online number roughly reflective of active members. You can always re-join.
- Book meetings are members-only but guests are permitted at social events.
