Folk music at Spruce Creek mansion
Details
This event will not require any hiking, biking, or padding. It will be sit back and listen. I've known the two women who make up Simple Gifts for many years, they are dedicated musicians to folk music, and put on great shows. It is sure to be an enjoyable afternoon. Afterwords we can end the day with dinner at the Spruce Creek Tavern.
Bellow is the description from Facebook events:
What happens when musicians from Callanish and Simple Gifts meet with other musician buddies from all over the state? They become Chambermates! Come hear folk, pop, classical, Celtic, tangos and more at 3:00 on Nov. 23. We have very eclectic musical tastes, which is reflected in the instruments we play: erhu (2-string Chinese fiddle), bodhran (Irish drum), hammer dulcimer, bagpipes, mandolin, accordions, percussion, bass, and several guitars and fiddles.
In 2016, three musicians met at Folk College, which is hosted by the group Simple Gifts at Juniata College each May. We so enjoyed playing with each other that we decided not to wait until the next Folk College a year later. So we met in Chambersburg, about halfway between Pittsburgh and Philly, for a weekend; we pretty much played nonstop with some discrete breaks for food and libations.
We’ve managed to meet at least once a year since and have grown to 10 musicians, incorporating members from the bands Callanish and Simple Gifts. This year we're meeting at the Colerain Center in Spruce Creek.
