Music Making: Playing Solo or Ensemble

Hi everyone!

Let's get together and share our passion for making music! This is a regular meetup for amateur musicians of all levels and abilities. We strive to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment where every musician feels welcome.

What Are We Doing to Do?

You can play a solo piece at any stage of performance-readiness. This is not a recital - works-in-progress are welcome! You might also meet other musicians who are interested in preparing duets or other ensembles. Those who are good at sight reading may choose to play in duets or trios. Please bring the scores for the pieces you want to play, or that you wish to play with others. Giving compliments and discussion of the music is welcome, but please, no unsolicited criticism of performances. The studio has a piano, and non-pianists bring their own instruments. Sorry, no percussion instruments are allowed in the studio.

The Meetup Structure

Between 3:00-4:00, we gather at Resto Vego (usually downstairs) to have coffee/tea and chat a bit. There is also a vegetarian buffet, but it isn't mandatory to order anything. Then, we head to the studio (next to the restaurant) just before our reservation time (4:00 PM) where we play and listen for 2 hours.

Costs Per Person

$10 each (payable by cash at the meetup, or by e-transfer to the organizer) + whatever you order at Resto Vego.

Regarding RSVP Cancellations

Please be mindful that I am required to give the people who run the studio at least a 48-hour notice to cancel a reservation. So, many last minute cancellations could jeopardize the friendly terms we have with the studio people.

Courteousness

Remember that there are limited spots in this meetup. If you are not planning to play, and you still want to join us, it would be appreciated if you give priority to those who want to play, maybe by refraining from RSVPing until the 3rd day before this event. Also, please be mindful to other interested members, by refraining from RSVPing until you are certain you could join.
