This will be a walk geared toward people with vision loss and those with mobility challenges. It will be an accessible and easy walk along the historic freight rail line over the west side of Manhattan.
We will meet outside of the Whole Foods Market in the area to review the details of our walk. Its paved walkway is suitable for walking and the use of wheelchairs. The path features gardens, some seating areas, and art installations, making it a scenic and accessible route with some slopes and ramps.
This walk will include some historical information.
Limited to 15 people.
Transportation: The meeting address is 450 West 33rd Street, New York, NY 10001 (cross street is 10th Avenue). It is accessible via the A, C, and E trains to 34th Street- Penn Station and bus M34 to the 34th Street/Dyer Avenue stop. We will end our walk at Gansevoort Street.
Necessary Equipment/Accessories: a guide cane, if needed, comfortable walking shoes, drinking water, a summer hat, sunscreen, and light snacks.
