Keeping with the tradition of Mahjong for People Who Work, Bookman's Entertainment Exchange in Phoenix has generously offered us a place to meet and play on the off weeks of the library.
We are open to all levels of players, from the absolute beginner to someone who has played for years. If you are new, we will teach you.
We do not play for points and no gambling allowed.
All versions of the game are welcome. I really only know Singapore, American, and a bit of Hong Kong. If you play other versions, please feel free to offer your expertise for us to learn more.
A note on American Mahjong (NMJL): You must have your own card for this year's hands in order to play. Cards can be ordered from the National Mah-Jongg League website but should also be available at your local JCC (Jewish Community Center) or Synagogue. DO NOT purchase one of the cheap cards available on Amazon as those are counterfeit and the hands do not match the official card.
