Details
Amigos De Vista Lions Club was formed to help the sight impaired, local youth programs, and the needy of the community. The Club’s Charter Night was held at the Elks Lodge in Vista on April 18, 1970 with 35 Charter Members.
The Club raises funds to support theses initiatives through three main fundraisers. Our annual golf tournament, now known as the Amigos de Vista Annual Tim Black Charity Golf Tournament, was started in 1975. The popular city-wide Annual Pancake Breakfast began in 1982 and Novemberfest in the Gardens started in 2014.
A major beneficiary of the Club’s fund-raising events is the San Diego Center for the Blind located here in the City of Vista. The Club participated in the remodeling and refurbishment of the house that was built in 1922. The attractive building today proudly serves the sight impaired of North County teaching life skills and preparing individuals to be independent members of our community.
Every Christmas, the Club provides a Santa and gifts to Operation Hope, a shelter for homeless families. The Club sponsors a scholarship program for local seniors heading to college, and partners with the Vista American Little League in supporting Youth Baseball and Mission Vista High School Basketball Program. Amigos De Vista Lions also have a close relationship with the Alta Vista Botanical Gardens, where we provide BBQ services on Earth Day and we also partner with them and local breweries to hold Novemberfest in the Gardens.
Amigos De Vista Lions Club currently has 21 members and we meet the first and third Friday of each month at 12:00 p.m. at Vista Village Pub, 244 Main St., Vista, CA.
