Angophora Bushwalking Meetup
This bushwalking group is for people who love the beautiful bushland, waterways and coastal scenery around Sydney region and want to share it with like-minded people and enjoy a stimulating and fun time with others. Our walks range from Central Coast/Broken Bay (Hawkesbury river) to Wollongong and Sydney's coast line to the Blue mountains.
The walks are held on Sundays, starting in the morning and lasting from 3-6 hours at an easy pace. We meet usually at 11 am and after check in, we start walking. In total there are twenty walks per year and particular walks are not repeated for at least 5 or 6 years, with rare exceptions.
Each walk has a specific meeting place accessible by car or public transport and we try for car sharing where needed. During our Covid 19 crisis, car sharing is not recommended when the situation is acute and even when relatively safe, mask wearing is advised.
We have a lunch break at a scenic spot where possible and often meet for coffee or tea after a walk (during the Covid 19 pandemic, this may need to be modified).
The walks are designed to include a wide range of fitness levels - distances and grades are assigned to each walk. Our walkers have included ages from 30-80 and while a minimum fitness level is required, we are out to enjoy the bush, take photos, have a good time and not to break any records.
When you join, you will receive a bush safety handout. Naturally, during walks you must follow instructions given by our walks leader.
Transport - if you don't have a car and it's impossible to reach a meeting place by public transport, don't despair! You can contact me and I'll try to arrange a lift for you. Again, as mentioned above, during the Covid 19 pandemic, this may not apply.
There is a CHARGE to cover INSURANCE without which it would NOT be possible to run the walks and this covers INDEMNITY for Angophora Bushwalking and also PUBLIC LIABILITY insurance for the group.
The COST for each walk is $10, up to a maximum of $50 for any one year (currently 22 Nov one year to 21 Nov following year) .
Payment can be made on the day of any walk. (Receipt provided).
