Cruising the Canal Path (34 miles)

Details

Tired of noisy cars, distracted drivers and limited bike lanes? Please register and jo‌in us for a moderately paced trail ride on the gravel paths that straddle the Delaware River.

We’ll meet at the Yardley Park & Ride Lot and bike north on the canal path by the artsy town of New Hope, PA and then on to the tiny village of Lumberville. After a brief refreshment stop at the Lumberville Store, we'll cross the bridge into NJ, and head south through the quaint towns of Stockton and Titusville. If lucky, we may spot a solitary blue heron, a bale of turtles or possibly a deer or two along the way.

As this is a trail ride, a hybrid, mountain or gravel bike in good working order is strongly recommended. (Narrow tires will make for difficult cycling.) Most of the ride will be on flat trails. However, at the end of the ride, we will cross the 295 pedestrian bridge; this includes a short, but very steep uphill climb.

Our average pace should be around 10 - 12 mph.

Note: To participate in this ride, every cyclist must wear a properly fitted helmet, carry a spare tube and tools, and bring adequate hydration. Cycling gloves, a bike bell and a frame bike pump are also recommended.

The ride will start at 10 am, but we ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes early to set up your bike. There is plentiful parking at the Yardley Park & Ride, which is located at 1140 Woodside Road (adjacent to the entrance ramp to I-295 near Yardley, PA). Restrooms will be available at the nearby 1799 House as well as other locations along the trail.

Please note that the event will be cancelled if there is rain, thunder or lightning at the start time or if the trail is exceedingly muddy due to previous storms.
