What we’re about

Join us again or for the first time for the latest dispensation of the Asheville Mountains to Sea Trail Hiking Club. After many years of not being able, consistently, to personally lead the hikes, Jeanne is back as the leader, as of December 2023. If Jeanne is not able to lead, the hike will be cancelled.

Join us, typically twice weekly, on hikes that alternate among four to six fairly standard routes that are usually within a 10 minute drive of downtown Asheville, with occasional new hikes thrown in the mix, and some that are a little farther away. We tend to hike the same hike on a Monday and Friday so we are rotating back around to that hike every four to six weeks or so. Because we are not hiking new trails most times, we can put the focus on fitness and community, knowing that we will be back soon to experience that same hike in a few weeks.

All hikes are pretty easy in terms of the terrain, but a few have a more upward trajectory, though not steep really. The pace we keep is high average, around 3.2 mph. We will make sure that no hikers get out of earshot unless that is their choice. Typically, a 5 mile hike that begins around 9:10 is completed around 10:50, allowing hikers to get to work or on to other responsibilities and fun.

Good hiking dogs are allowed to join us. There will be someone who takes turns being the sweep (walking at the end), making sure no one is left behind or lost.

Occasionally this meetup sponsors social outings as well.

We hope to see you zipping along a trail soon.
