Depending on the weather, you will find us inside Zupa's OR
outside the front window of the Cold Stone Ice Cream Shop.
The Cold Stone is a little hidden by large pillars so peak around for us!

EVERYONE IS WELCOME!! Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Interpeters and Students of sign language WELCOME!

Come make new friends and improve your sign language skills

1. Sign, no voices please. Voices only allowed when training on how to "voice interpret" for the Deaf.

2. Only Hosts may "Sim-Com" (Simultaneous Communication of signing & speaking) with new attendee's first visit to help make them more comfortable when necessary.

3. All conversations are to be "family and language" appropriate as we often have children present.

4. Improve your signing skills.....our Deaf & HOH friends are wonderful! They will show you a sign when you fingerspell a word to them. Practice & remember that sign in the future.

5. When needing to pass through a conversation, just walk through quickly. No need to sign "excuse me".

6. The appropriate way to interrupt another person or the host of the group, is to gently touch them on the shoulder and hold until they signal you "1" to allow them to finish their communication, then they will help you.

7. New students are to be practicing their ASL skills in conversations with others. Please do not attempt to “teach” other new students. Until you are approved by our Hosts, we are careful with who is teaching, as bad habits of signs learned incorrectly are very hard to break.

8. Please be respectful of the businesses we visit. If we are "inside" please patronize that business. Do not bring food from another place as it's not polite. With nice weather, we try to sit outside so you can enjoy the food you wish.

9. Please be respectful of the business hours. If they close at 9pm, our group should be stepping outside at that time. You may continue visiting outside.

10. For specific questions about the social, please ask to see a Host.

11. Deaf Coffee Social is every Thursday from 7-9pm. During the summer months, occasionally we stay longer and visit outside. When a holiday falls on a Thursday, the Socials are cancelled. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's

Goals of our social: Visit with friends, make new friends, practice and improve signing skills, keep up on ever changing ASL updates! Have fun, but please be polite and courteous.
