Architecture + History Tour of Atlanta's Fox Theater + Lunch

Details

This event is a private tour of Atlanta's fabulous Fox Theater, followed by lunch in Midtown.

Originally opened in 1929, the Fox has a fascinating, evolving history as a Shrine Temple, which became a grand movie theater, and then later became the city's premier performing arts venue. The Fox nearly ceased to function more than once!

We're booked for a private Architecture & History Tour exclusively for LGBTQ Culture Explorers. The tour takes us through the theater's Ancient Egyptian and Middle Eastern influences, its origins with the Shriner Organization and its relationship with movie mogul William Fox.

The Plan:

  • 10:00 - (OPTIONAL) - Meet for coffee before the tour: Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee (address: 715 Peachtree St NE - this is one block from the Fox)
  • 10:45 - Gather at the entrance of the Fox. Look for Dane.
  • 11:00 - Architecture & History Tour begins (tour lasts ~60 mins)
  • 12:30 - Lunch at El Viñedo Local, which is one block away.
  • 1:30-ish - Event ends. We can grab a coffee nearby or depart.

Cost:

  • Tour - $15.00 per person (you will reimburse me via app or cash)
  • Lunch and coffee are on your own

Addresses:

  • Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee, 715 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta 30308
  • Fox Theater - 660 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta 30375
  • El Viñedo Local - 730 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta 30308

This should be a great event for everyone.

Please keep your RSVP updated and note if you will join only for the tour or only for lunch. (The pre-tour coffee is 100% optional).

See you there!
