Meditation helps us calm our minds, focus, and develop insight into understand ultimate reality. Emory Buddhist Club welcomes everyone each Thursday at 6pm for guided meditation, discussion, and tea. We are open to all Emory affiliates who are interested in mindfulness, Zen, meditation, and/or Buddhism! Our teachers rotate each week and are typically monks or nuns coming from the greater Atlanta Georgia community and sometimes even from around the country and world!

A sequential semester-long guided Beginner's Zen meditation and Introduction to Buddhism course is offered at no charge at nearby Dharma Jewel Monastery. This cumulative course is once a week. A separate class is offered for children, as well as in Chinese. www.DharmaJewel.US

Dharma Jewel Monastery hosts Atlanta's guided Zen meditation and sequential 20-week fundamental concepts of Buddhism class - this series is every Thursday night starting October 3 at 7pm! All are welcome, whether you are brand new at meditating or experienced. Classes start easy and are cumulative. Each session includes walking meditation, sitting meditation, brief chanting, tea and social break, and a lecture on Zen principles (Beginner's Course Topic: Causality and The Four Noble Truths), followed by a brief Q&A.

These Chinese Buddhist ceremonies are once a month on Sunday mornings, all are welcome to experience this traditional Chinese chanting with English translation, 9:15am - 12pm:

Other events: Only meditation class students are eligible to participate in our monthly 1 and 2 day Zen Meditation Retreats and Zen Kung-Fu Martial Arts classes. Completion of Beginner's course is a prerequisite for other classes (intermediate, sutra study) at DJM.

Completion of this introductory course allows attendance at our more advanced meditation courses and sutra study classes. Participation in monthly meditation retreats is only open to those who have taken our courses.
Free. There is no charge to attend any event at our monastery. We are supported by your voluntary donations. No catch, no gimmicks.
