His story is told within the context of the American Indian Movement, the US federal government, and the multi national companies interested in mining the land in South Dakota. Suzie Baer (Director, Producer) and Jeanne Roach (Co-Director of the International Leonard Peltier Defense Committee) will be joining us for a special guest Q&A! Here is a link to where you can watch it for free.

This event is posted in multiple meetup groups, and on Eventbrite, as well as with members of the Community Documentary Night email list. (Message me if interested in joining the email list) Therefore, THIS RSVP LIST IS NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE ATTENDING THE EVENT. So even if you only see one person RSVPed in this meetup group, there will always be others in attendance from other groups. We tend to have at least 20 on average. By inviting numerous groups that increases the likelihood that those in attendance will be from varying backgrounds and beliefs. This is done purposefully to provide everyone with the opportunity to hear a wide range of perspectives.
This event is open to all who are open to all. The one thing we ask is that people allow others to get their full thought out and that any disagreement is voiced in a civil way. Click >>HERE<< to check out the Community Documentary Night website for more info or links to previously shown documentaries.
Thank you and hope to see you there!

**YOU MUST WATCH THE FILM ON YOUR OWN BEFORE THIS EVENT**
For this Virtual Documentary Night we have voted to talk about the documentary, Behind The Shield: The Power and Politics of the NFL. Acclaimed journalist Dave Zirin of The Nation magazine tackles the politics of manhood, militarism, nationalism, and race in the NFL, America's most popular and influential sports league. Again, you must watch the film before attending this event. Here is a link to where you can watch the film for free.

This is a Voting Night, which means at the end of the night we brainstorm and vote to decide as a group what we will watch the following month, so please come ready with your recommendation. The only requirement is that the film must be available to watch online for free. If you need any ideas, you can search through the Flyers Page on the Community Documentary Night website. It is full of flyers based around certain themes and each flyer is full of documentary posters, which are hyperlinked to where you watch the films for free. Something to consider is that next month is December, which is National Human Rights Month, and World AIDS Day is celebrated on December 1st. Check out the National Human Rights Month flyer, and the World AIDS Day flyer if you're interested in recommending a film in honor of these holidays.
Again, you must watch the film on your own BEFORE the event. We will be meeting over Zoom, where we will break out into small discussion groups. We will do multiple rounds of small group discussion, then have a special guest Q&A, before closing out the night with a vote to decide what film we will watch the following month.
