What we’re about

Dream of being a daring adventurer in kick-ass magical realms? Wish you were an actual elf wizard or a brawny but soft-hearted half-orc? Perhaps a cyberpunk hacker cracking the mainframe? A secret double agent spy with a popstar persona? JustALittleGuyTM? Then come play Dungeons and Dragons and other TTRPGs* *!*

We run weekly events in Atlanta several nights a week. We try to make our games as inclusive as possible; our goal is to lower the barrier for entry for new folks to get involved in the hobby. New players don't need to bring anything--we provide free dice and character sheets for all first-timers, and all skill levels are welcome!

*D&D not your cup of tea, or just looking to try something new? There’s surely a game out there for you! There exists a multitud eof different tabletop roleplay games (TTRPGs), a.k.a. pen-and-paper RPGs, fitting different genres, settings, rules mechanics, etc.; Whether mystery or monsters, romance or realism, there’s a library of games that our members run and would be delighted to help you find what you like!

How it works:
Check our web app (ATLRPG.org/calendar) for a games being run on a specific night you want to join us (usually posted a week ahead to day of), and reserve your spot! If all the currently available spots are open, you can hop on a game's Waitlist to show your interest in case someone drops (or the GM can squeeze oooone more person in), or grab a spot in a Flex game--games offered by folks who would prefer to play that night, but are willing to run if needed for overflow players. Unless a game says otherwise, the default assumption is that a game is newbie friendly--the GM will teach folks everything at the table! Of course, if you've never played a particular TTRPG before, it's never a bad idea to look it up and see if it sounds like it might be up your alley.

Folks make their way over during the 6:00pm to 7:00pm 'happy hour', but the official meetup time is at 7:00pm. Check in with an Admin or your GM, grab a drink or a bite, mingle, and around 7:15pm games'll get going. Admin will likely do either group or table announcements, or your GM will. Games usually play until 10-11pm.

Don't see games you're interested in? Consider joining our Discord and asking around if anyone is interested in GMing game 'X' on 'Y' day. GMs often will 'soft pitch' a game in the Discord, gathering up interest preemptively and picking a night to run it! The Discord is where the community chatter is in general.

For Dungeon/Game Masters:
Anyone that wants to pitch and run a game can add it on our web app for whichever night (ATLRPG.org/calendar). You are welcome to run any TTRPG, but please note in your description if it is not newbie friendly. You are welcome to run one-shots, drop-in/out campaigns, and limited series. You are also welcome to run private one-shots and campaigns, where players can Waitlist for your game, but only you or an Admin can move them from Waitlist to your game list. You are also welcome to advertise your game wherever, including in our Discord on the appropriate channels (e.g., #tuesdays, #pathfinder, etc.).

What You Need to Bring:
You don't need to bring anything to play--we provide dice, character sheets, and helpful advice for all new players!

Players, if you want to bring a homemade character sheet, the assumptions for D&D 5e are 3rd level, Standard Array or Point Buy, and average HP. Any WotC content, but no UA or Homebrew. Game posts will note whether pre-generated character sheets ("pregens") will be provided and/or whether players are welcome to bring homemade characters. Many rules-light games will have quick character generation at the table. Game descriptions may provide further details as needed.

GMs, if you are interested in running a game, we provide players with dice, pencils, and D&D 5e 3rd-level pregens as specified above. You will need to bring whatever you usually use to run a session--e.g., books, maps, minis, etc. If you're running a system other than 5e, or at a different level, you'll need to provide character sheets (and rules instructions) for your players. Feel free to post on the web app (ATLRPG.org) or otherwise gauge interest in our Discord's event channels.

So, if you want to meet new people, learn the rules of D&D or TTRPGs, or just play some games and have some drinks, come out and join us every week!

Everyone should feel free to join our Discord community as well!
