Austin Vocal Improv Circlesong VS Any Choir

You already know what a choir is. A “circlesong”? What’s that?

(Answer: A layered, spontaneous, a cappella song. Singers collaborate by offering improvised vocal loops.)

We sing for the pleasure of singing. No performance, so no rehearsals.

Most of your two hours will be spent actually singing. No waiting for other sections to learn their parts.

We use our ears. No sheet music involved.

Like a choir, we strive for things like clear unisons, vowels, and blend, but we don’t review them in the moment. Instead, we play games that help us build those skills and then carry them into our circlesongs.

We learn to make choices of whether to join, add or echo a part. You don’t do that in a choir!

We love choirs! But we are not one.

We are about to have our third fun event. A total of ten easy-going, pleasant people have given this a chance so far. Help Austin establish a community of people who sing this stuff.
