Wednesday Evening Walk from Capitol Visitors Garage downtown
Details
We will start our walk at the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage located one block to the east of the Texas State Capitol. Free parking is available at the meters along the streets around the garage (the meters stop charging at 6 pm). Additionally, in the past this garage has been free to park in after 5 pm (except during events), just hang onto the parking ticket you receive upon entering if you should need to provide it before exiting. The main entrance to the garage can be found along East 12th St. A second entrance can be found on East 13th St. Park in any space marked for Visitors.
Please note: We'll meet at the lit plaza on the west side of the garage along San Jacinto.
Our walk will take us through the UT campus and/or downtown and will cover about 3 1/2 miles in an hour and a half, walking at a steady pace with a few short breaks. The route will be easy to medium, and may include some slight hills.
** As a suggestion, please consider wearing tennis shoes, bringing along water, as well as bringing along a flashlight or headlamp as the walk will be after dark and we could encounter some dark stretches along our route.**
Additionally, please consider if you are fit for this kind of walk, for your own safety and the consideration of others.
If the weather looks questionable, please check this site for a cancellation.
Thank you and looking forward to walking with you on Wednesday!
