Introduction to Scotch with Catherine Sikora Downtown Austin

Introduction to Scotch is a small class offered to members of the Austin Scotch Lovers who wish to learn more about Scotch Whisky. It is offered by various members of the Austin Scotch Lovers at their homes. You may bring a friend with you, but please indicate this in the RSVP. It is $20 per person, payable at the class. Each leader will determine what form of payment they accept. The photo used here is just a general photo for illustrative purposes, not indicative of what Scotch will be tasted. The payment covers the education offered and any costs incurred in offering the class excluding alcohol.

Each class will be different and so you may like to take this class more than once from the different members who are offering them. Each member brings their own experience and focus to the class and they may be different each time.

• What is Scotch whisky
• How Scotch differs from other types of whisky
• The types of Scotch whisky
• How Scotch is made
• Different Casks and how they affect whisky
• What age statement means

You may also learn:

• Different ways to enjoy Scotch
• How to use your nose and mouth to enhance the taste
• How different glassware affects the taste
• How you can find Scotches to suit your palate and build your home bar

This class emphasizes education and while you will enjoy some whisky during the class, it is not focused on a large consumption of alcohol. That being said, if you can use ride share or have a designated driver, it is always a good idea. You attend any Austin Scotch Lover's event at your own risk and we do kindly ask that you always take responsibility for your intake and choices.

This class is taught by Catherine Sikora and hosted by Susan P and will be at her home in Downtown Austin. The exact address will be emailed to the group who has added their RSVP just before the class. This class will be held inside. Attendance is limited to please add your RSVP as soon as possible to reserve your seat.

If you would like to host a class in your home, please let Catherine know. You may like to get some friends together and have one of the leaders come to your home and give you a class or perhaps you would be interested in offering your home as a location for other members to come to a class led by one of the Intro team.
