What we’re about
Welcome to Autistic Pittsburgh! This group is for adult Autistics that is managed by Autistics. This is a safe, respectful place to be your true selves without a Neurotypical lens. The group is meant for socializing with like-people and to relate to each other on our challenges and triumphs as Autistics.
All race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ability, and socioeconomic backgrounds are welcome as Autistic people are also very diverse. You must be 18 or older to join.
Activities in this group will entail both in-person activities and discussion groups. We encourage this community to pitch ideas for both.
This will be a private group to protect from anyone with ill-intent. To that matter, we ask the community to be:
- Respectful
- Tolerant
- Kind
- Considerate of Personal Boundaries (both physical and social)
- Patient
If anyone in the group cannot adhere to above and has ill-intent (ex. trolling), invades another group members boundaries, or exhibits inappropriate behavior that is not accepted in public (ex. extremely sexual in nature, profane, insulting, etc.), they will get one warning. If individual repeats offense, they will be kicked out.
Note: There is another group for Autistic adults on Meetup - Pittsburgh Autism Discussion Group and Social Meetup. This is run by the Neurotypical mother of an Autistic Adult. We have created this group to be specifically owned and managed by Autistic individuals with slightly different goals and less structure. We do encourage members to be part of both groups, if they so choose.
