What we’re about
What is meditation?
Meditation, or 'gom' in Tibetan, means "to become familiar with" how the mind works, how it creates and shapes our perceptions of ourselves and the world.
A basic classification of meditation techniques is Shamatha (peaceful abiding or tranquility) and Vipassana(insight meditation). Shamatha, also called mindfulness/awareness meditation, is an important introductory practice that leads to the practice of Vipashyana.
According to Harvard University: Although the practices of mindfulness and meditation are thousands of years old, research on their health benefits is relatively new but very promising. To name a few of the many benefits, meditation practices reduce stress, ease depression and improve well-being.
Who are we?
Gränna meditation circle is a local community connected to a larger network in Stockholm and Gothenburg, created by meditation practitioners who have trained with Gyalwai Nyugu Rinpoche, a distinguished Tibetan meditation master.
As a freshly formed local group, the identity and essence of our community will be shaped by each new member who joins us.
What do we do?
We promote a healthy lifestyle through meditation, exploring basic techniques like breathing meditation, sound meditation and mantras, alongside opportunities to get guidance into more advanced practices.
- Regular meditation gatherings on hold from Aug 2024 due to limited access to the location.
- Currently only resident retreats with limited spots until further notice.
*This group functions as a non-profit, with no fees for regular gatherings. However, when events involving clear costs, participants may be asked to contribute.
Who can join?
Our group is open to all levels of practitioners, from complete beginners who are curious about their minds all the way to Buddhas.
